Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa has appealed to all the Local Orthodox Church to attend the Pan-Orthodox Council in Crete, the Rompheia news agency reports.

In an interview given to Radio Station 98 4, Patriarch Theodoros spoke about the historic church Council to take place in June 2016, in Crete. He stated that ‘the Orthodox Church should be far from political, ethnic and racial passions’.

‘It is impossible to imagine how one’s personal desires and displeasure with the primacy in the diptych and the role of coordinator performed by the Patriarch of Constantinople can prevent one from coming to the Church Council, though the unanimous decision was made earlier!’ Patriarch Theodoros said.

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria believes that the Bulgarian Church now cannot change her mind, unlike other three Local Churches, which have not said their ‘no’ as categorically as she did.
